Parent Pick Up Procedures

Dear Vaughn Families,

I am writing to share a reminder about our afternoon parent pick-up procedures to help ensure dismissal runs smoothly and safely for all students.

Our pick-up process operates in rounds. A staff member enters your student’s name into our electronic tracking system. The first 16 vehicles move forward in two lanes and stop while staff members assist students with loading into their vehicles. Once all 16 vehicles in the first round are loaded and dismissed, the next group of 16 vehicles moves forward.

Recently, some vehicles in the second group have been moving forward before the first group has loaded and exited. This creates confusion for staff because our electronic system assigns a number to each vehicle, allowing us to match students with the correct car. When vehicles move forward out of sequence, it can be difficult to identify the correct vehicle for each student.
Beginning today, a staff member will be stationed at the crosswalk to signal when the next group of vehicles should move forward. Please wait for this staff member’s signal before advancing.

We also ask for your help with these important safety procedures:

Please do not motion for your child to come to your vehicle. All students must follow the same dismissal process so we can ensure each child is safely accounted for.

Students have been reminded during morning announcements to go directly to their assigned cone, check in with a staff member and wait for an adult to signal when it is safe to load into their vehicle.

Please follow staff directions and wait until your group is instructed to move forward.

Our electronic tracking system allows us to check off each student as they enter their assigned vehicle. Following these procedures is essential to ensuring every student is matched with the correct vehicle and safely accounted for before leaving school.

Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to prioritize student safety.

Sincerely,
Kelli
